What is a scalable architecture?
It is a way of designing a system so it can handle more users, more data or more operations without being rebuilt. It works by splitting the system into parts that can grow independently and by using infrastructure that expands with demand.
When it matters: when a product starts growing and what worked for 50 users becomes slow or crashes with 500. It is what we work on when scaling digital products.
What is a legacy system?
It is a system still in use but built with the technology or decisions of another era: it is costly to maintain, few people know how it works inside, and every change is slow or risky. It does not always need replacing; often it can be modernized piece by piece.
When it matters: when the system holds the business back or depends on a single person. See how we evolve existing systems without starting from scratch.
What is an MVP?
MVP stands for "minimum viable product": the simplest version of a product that already solves the main problem and can be tested with real users. It validates an idea while spending just enough, before investing in the full version.
When it matters: when launching something new, and later, when the MVP worked and needs to become a solid product.
What is systems integration?
It is connecting two or more tools so they exchange information automatically, without anyone copying data by hand. For example: an order placed on the website appears in the management system and triggers the invoice automatically.
When it matters: when your team uses several tools that do not talk to each other and errors show up when moving data between them.
What is process automation?
It is making repetitive tasks run on their own: notifications, data entry, approvals, reports. It frees up your team's time and reduces errors. Fix the process before automating it: automating a messy process only makes the mess faster.
When it matters: when someone on your team spends hours every week doing the same thing. See how we automate processes.
What is an AI assistant for businesses?
It is a program that understands written messages and replies the way a person would, using your company's information. It can answer questions on WhatsApp or the web, organize requests or read documents, and hand off to a person when it does not know the answer.
When it matters: when many questions repeat or arrive outside business hours. See AI assistants for businesses.
What is low-code (for example, Power Platform)?
Low-code tools let you build applications and automations with little programming, by assembling visual blocks. Microsoft Power Platform is one of the most widely used among companies already on Microsoft 365. It is fast for internal needs, though it has limits when a system grows a lot.
When it matters: when your company already uses Microsoft 365 and needs to automate internal tasks without a large development project.
What is custom software?
It is a system designed around how a specific company works, instead of a generic program built for everyone. The code and data belong to the company, and the system can evolve with the business.
When it matters: when generic tools are no longer enough. See custom software or an off-the-shelf system?
